New Acropolis Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the National and University Library Dervis Susic Tuzla, marked the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi with a lecture on Mahatma Gandhi: The Power of Change.
“Be the change you want to see in the world,” said Mahatma Gandhi. From his early days as a human rights lawyer in South Africa, to his role as liberator of India, Mahatma Gandhi was an influential leader who shared an example of a life dedicated to the greater good. The lecture celebrated the spirit of this man who led a heroic 30-year struggle with the forces of nonviolence, courage and love that eventually led an entire nation to independence.
In our current circumstances, the teachings of Gandhi, including Ahimsa or non-violent resistance, are important and relavent to help us navigate adverse circumstances with strength, love and hope.
How did Gandhi become one of the greatest political and spiritual leaders the world has seen? How did he translate his knowledge and learnings into the wisdom of living? What would Gandhi do today if he were in our place, or how can each of us could be the change we wish to see in the world?
