New Acropolis Russia (Novosibirsk) celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi through an event that honoured his life and philosophy. The lecture was part of a series titled People who Changed the World and was towards the world-wide initiative of New Acropolis to honour Gandhi on this occasion.

Most of the discussions of the evening focused on two concepts that became fundamental ideas of Gandhi’s philosophy and life: Ahimsa (non-violence) and Satyagraha (power of truth). If our goal is good, we can achieve it only with the help of equally good means. It was deliberated that while theoretically many may agree that “the end does not justify the means,” in day-to day life however, it is very difficult to be guided by this principle. The lecture highlighted Gandhi as an example of what one person with good will and a relentless aspiration towards Truth, can achieve for the world.
