New Acropolis Bucharest honours the life and example of Mahatma Gandhi on UNESCO World Philosophy Day 2019. Each year, New Acropolis Bucharest dedicates a weekend on this occasion, to explore the ideas and life of wise men and women through history, to explore philosophy as the great art of life – of knowing how to live meaningfully, with beauty and joy in each moment.

This year, in honour of Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary, the first day of the conference was dedicated to investigating wisdom from the Indian tradition. The event began with a talk on Gandhi and the ethical meaning of devotion and change through his example. This was followed by an exploration of Buddhist philosophy, and finally a poetry recitation of Rabindranath Tagore’s work.
